Narita to Kanamachi: Train Route, Fares & Last Trains (2026)

By Atsushi — host at Bon House in Kanamachi, Katsushika ward.
From Narita to Kanamachi, take a Keisei train to Keisei Takasago, change to the Kanamachi Line for two stops, and walk 7–10 minutes. Two kinds of Keisei train go to Takasago: the Main Line (¥936 on an IC card) and the Access Express (¥1,141). The Access Express runs only every 40 minutes in the daytime, so the cheaper train often gets you to our door just as fast. Take whichever leaves first.
The short version
- Follow Train / 鉄道, then the Keisei signs. Not JR, and not the Skyliner.
- Take whichever leaves first: the Keisei Main Line 快速 / 特急 (IC ¥936) or the Access Express アクセス特急 (IC ¥1,141).
- Get off at Keisei Takasago. Go up to the 2nd floor, out through the main gate, and in again at the Kanamachi Line gate. Then go to platform 5.
- Ride 2 stops (5 minutes) to Keisei Kanamachi and walk 7–10 minutes.
Last train: the Access Express at 23:08 from Terminal 1 (23:11 from Terminal 2·3)

Step 1: Find the Keisei Line at Narita Airport
Narita has two Keisei stations, both underneath the terminals:
- Terminal 1: 成田空港 (Narita Airport) station.
- Terminals 2 and 3: 空港第2ビル (Airport Terminal 2) station. From Terminal 3, walk to Terminal 2. It takes about 13 minutes from the Terminal 3 arrivals information counter to the station gate, or you can ride the free shuttle bus between terminals.
Follow the Train / 鉄道 signs and then the Keisei signs, not JR. JR's Narita Express goes to Tokyo Station and the west of the city, the wrong direction for us.
Regular Suica and PASMO cards are on sale again, and an iPhone with Suica in Apple Wallet works at the gates. Keisei's SKYLINER & KEISEI INFORMATION CENTER at both stations sells the TOURIST PASMO for ¥2,000.

Step 2: Access Express or Keisei Main Line?
Look at the departure board and take whichever of these two leaves first:
- Keisei Main Line, 快速 (Rapid) or 特急 (Limited Express). Every 20 minutes in the daytime. About 60–70 minutes to Keisei Takasago. ¥940 (IC ¥936) to Keisei Kanamachi.
- Access Express, アクセス特急. About every 40 minutes in the daytime. It takes the newer Narita Sky Access Line: about 53–56 minutes to Takasago at midday and about 42 minutes in the evening. ¥1,150 (IC ¥1,141).
Many of these trains run on to Haneda Airport or Nishi-magome. That's fine; you get off before then, at Keisei Takasago.
Don't take the Skyliner. It's the fastest train to Ueno, but it doesn't stop at Keisei Takasago. Some Skyliners stop at Aoto, but from there you'd still go back one stop to Takasago, after paying the Skyliner seat fee on top of the fare.
Step 3: Change to the Kanamachi Line at Keisei Takasago
The Kanamachi Line has its own platform and its own ticket gate, so this change means leaving through one gate and entering through another.
- Trains from Narita stop at platform 1 or 2. Go up to the 2nd floor by stairs, escalator or lift.
- Tap out at the main ticket gate (改札口).
- A few metres away is the Kanamachi Line gate (金町線専用改札口). Tap in again. The fare is calculated as one trip from Narita, so you aren't charged twice.
- Walk up the slope to platform 5.

Look for this gate. The notice on the left says it's for the Kanamachi Line, not an exit.
There are no steps from the 2nd floor to platform 5, just a gentle ramp. Kanamachi Line trains run every 15 minutes in the middle of a weekday and every 10 minutes at rush hour. The ride takes 5 minutes, with one stop, at Shibamata.

Platform 5: the train shows 金町 (Kanamachi).
Step 4: Walk from Keisei Kanamachi Station to Bon House
Keisei Kanamachi is the end of the line: one platform, one exit. There's a FamilyMart right outside the gate.
The walk is about 810 m, flat and step-free, and takes 7–10 minutes. The numbers match the map.
- Walk to JR Kanamachi Station. Head toward the elevated JR tracks ahead of the Keisei exit and bear slightly right to the passage, about 145 m (3 minutes).
- Go through the passage under the JR tracks. JR Kanamachi's South Exit (南口) and North Exit (北口) are joined by a free public walkway under the elevated tracks, outside the ticket gates, so you don't need a ticket. It's the shortest way across from the Keisei side.
- Come out at the North Exit (北口), with the bus terminal in front of you, and turn right. Walk east with the station on your right.
- After about 180 m, at the traffic lights where the main road comes up from under the tracks, turn left.
- Walk north on the main road for about 330 m, with the tall blocks of the UR Kanamachi Ekimae housing estate (金町駅前団地) on your left.
- Turn right just after Kisen Hospital (嬉泉病院) on your left. Bon House is about 150 m along this street. Your check-in message has the door and key details.

The JR North Exit, seen from across the bus terminal. When you come out of this exit, turn right (to the left in this photo).
Shortcut: the green dashed line on the map cuts through the UR estate's footpaths and saves about 70 m. People live there, so keep voices down at night. With big suitcases, the main route is simpler.
Need groceries? Tokyu Store, by the JR North Exit, is the handiest supermarket on the way in. More on the neighbourhood in our Kanamachi guide.
Heading to JR Kanamachi Station or the Tokyo University of Science Katsushika campus instead? JR Kanamachi is the 3-minute walk in step 1, and the campus is about 10 minutes from there; see our TUS guide.
A Typical Arrival: Four Adults Landing at Narita at 3 PM
Here's how it usually goes for four adults landing at Narita Terminal 2 at 3 pm on a weekday. Bags and customs take until about 4:05, just after an Access Express has left. The next train is a Keisei Main Line limited express (特急) at 4:11, so they take that rather than wait 40 minutes for the next Access Express. They're at Keisei Takasago at about 5:10, take the ramp to platform 5 for the 5:14 Kanamachi Line, and are at the door by about 5:30. The fare is ¥3,744 for four on IC cards; the Skyliner and JR alternative would cost about ¥11,300.
Still deciding where to stay? Bon House sleeps up to four on a quiet residential street, a 7–10 minute walk from Keisei Kanamachi, with a fridge, microwave and kettle in the room. Check availability at Bon House.
Other Ways from Narita to Kanamachi
Skyliner and JR via Nippori
The Skyliner gets you to Nippori quickly, at ¥2,580 (IC ¥2,567) including the seat. From Nippori, take the JR Joban Line Rapid to Kita-Senju and change to a local train (Chiyoda Line through service) to JR Kanamachi: about 20 minutes and ¥260 (IC ¥253). That's about ¥2,820 on IC cards, two changes, and no faster than the Keisei trains to Takasago. It only makes sense if you're stopping in Ueno or Nippori first.
Airport bus
No airport bus from Narita stops in Kanamachi or Kameari. The buses to Tokyo Station (from ¥1,500) leave you with a longer train ride than the one you skipped.
Taxi from Narita
Narita Airport lists a fixed taxi fare to Katsushika ward (Zone A, with Edogawa and Adachi) of ¥23,500 via the Keiyo Road or ¥26,500 via the Bayshore Route, plus tolls and a late-night surcharge between 22:00 and 05:00. Confirm the current fare at the taxi counter before you get in. If you're flying on from Haneda instead, see Narita to Haneda.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a direct train from Narita to Kanamachi?
No. Every route needs at least one change, and the simplest is at Keisei Takasago, onto the Kanamachi Line for 2 stops. The JR Narita Express doesn't help: it heads to Tokyo Station and the west side of the city.
How do I get from Narita to Shibamata?
Same route: change at Keisei Takasago to the Kanamachi Line and get off after one stop, at Shibamata, instead of riding on to Keisei Kanamachi. Our Shibamata guide covers what to do there.
Is Narita or Haneda better for Kanamachi?
Haneda is a little cheaper (¥798 on IC) and its trains toward Takasago run more often. Narita has more budget airlines. Both routes change at the same station, Keisei Takasago. See our Haneda to Kanamachi guide for the other airport, or Haneda vs Narita for the full comparison.
