Haneda to Kanamachi: The One-Change Train Route (2026)

By Atsushi — host at Bon House in Kanamachi, Katsushika ward.

Haneda to Kanamachi looks like a trip across all of Tokyo, but the train does the crossing for you. From the Haneda Terminal 3 platform, one train runs under the city to Keisei Takasago without a change. From there it's two stops on a small branch line to Keisei Kanamachi: about 70 minutes and ¥798 on an IC card. Then it's a 7–10 minute walk to our door.

The short version

  1. Follow the signs for the Keikyu Line (京急線) and tap in with Suica or PASMO.
  2. From platform 2, board a train showing 成田空港 (Narita Airport) or 京成高砂 (Keisei Takasago). Stay on for 55–60 minutes.
  3. At Keisei Takasago, go up to the 2nd floor, out through the main gate, and in again at the Kanamachi Line gate a few metres away. Then go to platform 5.
  4. Ride 2 stops (5 minutes) to Keisei Kanamachi, the end of the line, and walk 7–10 minutes.

¥810 (IC ¥798) from Terminal 3 · last through train 22:54

From the Terminal 1·2 station (domestic flights) the train fare is ¥850 (IC ¥834). The route is the same.

Route map from Haneda Airport to Keisei Kanamachi: Keikyu through train to Keisei Takasago in 55 to 60 minutes, then the Kanamachi Line 2 stops via Shibamata, then a 7 to 10 minute walk to Bon House

Step 1: Find the Keikyu Line at Haneda Airport

International flights land at Terminal 3. Follow the signs for the Keikyu Line (京急線), not the Tokyo Monorail (東京モノレール), which goes to Hamamatsucho and means two more changes. The photo at the top of this page shows the Keikyu gates at Terminal 3.

Tap in with a Suica or PASMO card if you have one. If you don't, the Keikyu Tourist Information Center in the Terminal 3 arrivals hall (2F) sells the TOURIST PASMO, from ¥1,000 to ¥10,000, and there's a machine next to it that takes credit cards. An iPhone with Suica in Apple Wallet also works at every gate on this route.

Step 2: Which Haneda Trains Run Through to Keisei Takasago

From Terminal 3, every train on this route leaves from platform 2 (at Terminal 1·2, check the board for the platform). Not every train from platform 2 goes the right way, though. Read the destination on the departure board:

  • 成田空港 (Narita Airport) or 京成高砂 (Keisei Takasago): the two you'll see most.

In the middle of the day there are about 6 of these an hour from Terminal 3, roughly every 10 minutes. The train type doesn't matter (エアポート快特, 快特, 特急 or 急行): all of them stop at Takasago.

Skip trains bound for 逗子・葉山 (Zushi-Hayama) or anything else toward Yokohama (横浜方面), and trains that end at 品川 (Shinagawa), 泉岳寺 (Sengakuji), 押上 (Oshiage) or 青砥 (Aoto). If you're already on one that ends at Oshiage, the Keisei train you need leaves from the other side of the same platform. At Aoto, stay on the same floor and take the next train; everything except the Skyliner stops at Takasago next.

The train changes from Keikyu to the Toei Asakusa Line and then to Keisei on the way, but you stay in your seat. It's 55–60 minutes to Keisei Takasago.

Step 3: Change to the Kanamachi Line at Keisei Takasago

This is the only part of the trip that confuses people. The Kanamachi Line runs from its own platform with its own ticket gate, so you leave through one gate and enter through another.

Cross-section of Keisei Takasago station: trains from Haneda arrive at platforms 3 and 4 on the ground floor; go up to the 2nd floor, exit through the main gate, tap in at the Kanamachi Line gate a few metres away, then take the slope up to platform 5

  1. Trains from Haneda stop at platform 3 or 4. Go up to the 2nd floor by stairs, escalator or lift.
  2. Tap out at the main ticket gate (改札口).
  3. A few metres away is the Kanamachi Line gate (金町線専用改札口). Tap in again. You aren't charged twice: the fare is calculated as one trip from Haneda.
  4. Walk up the slope to platform 5.

Look for this gate. The notice on the left says it's for the Kanamachi Line, not an exit.

The whole route is step-free here. The ramp is gentle enough to roll a suitcase up.

Kanamachi Line trains run every 15 minutes in the middle of a weekday and every 10 minutes at rush hour. The ride is 5 minutes and stops once, at Shibamata.

Platform 5: the train shows 金町 (Kanamachi).

Step 4: Walk from Keisei Kanamachi Station to Bon House

Keisei Kanamachi is the end of the line, with one platform and one exit, so you can't get off on the wrong side. There's a FamilyMart right outside the gate if you need water or a snack for the walk.

Walking map from Keisei Kanamachi Station through the free passage under JR Kanamachi Station to the North Exit, then right, left onto the main road beside the UR Kanamachi Ekimae estate, and right after Kisen Hospital to Bon House: 810 m, 7 to 10 minutes. A dashed line shows a shortcut through the estate, about 70 m shorter

The walk is about 810 m and takes 7–10 minutes. It's flat and step-free the whole way. The numbers match the map.

  1. Walk to JR Kanamachi Station. Head toward the elevated JR tracks ahead of the Keisei exit and bear slightly right to the passage, about 145 m (3 minutes).
  2. Go through the passage under the JR tracks. JR Kanamachi's South Exit (南口) and North Exit (北口) are joined by a free public walkway under the elevated tracks. It's outside the ticket gates, so you don't need a ticket, and it's the shortest way across from the Keisei side.
  3. Come out at the North Exit (北口), with the bus terminal in front of you, and turn right. Walk east with the station on your right.
  4. After about 180 m, at the traffic lights where the main road comes up from under the tracks, turn left.
  5. Walk north on the main road for about 330 m. The tall blocks of the UR Kanamachi Ekimae housing estate (金町駅前団地) are on your left.
  6. Turn right just after Kisen Hospital (嬉泉病院) on your left. Bon House is about 150 m along this street. Your check-in message has the door and key details.

The JR North Exit, seen from across the bus terminal. When you come out of this exit, turn right (to the left in this photo).

Shortcut: the green dashed line on the map cuts through the UR estate's footpaths and saves about 70 m. People live there, so keep voices down at night. With big suitcases, the main route is simpler.

Need groceries? Tokyu Store, by the JR North Exit, is the handiest supermarket on the way in. More on the neighbourhood in our Kanamachi guide.

Coming by JR instead (see the Shinagawa route below)? You arrive at the North Exit side already. From the North Exit gate it's about 670 m, around 8 minutes. The Tokyo University of Science Katsushika campus is about 10 minutes the other way; see our TUS guide.

A Typical Arrival: Landing at Haneda at 3 PM

Here's how it usually goes for a couple landing at Haneda Terminal 3 at 3 pm on a weekday. Immigration, bags and customs take until about 3:45. They buy a TOURIST PASMO at the Keikyu counter and are on a Narita Airport-bound train from platform 2 by 4:00. They're at Keisei Takasago around 5:00, wait a few minutes for the Kanamachi Line, and step out at Keisei Kanamachi around 5:10. With the walk and a stop at the FamilyMart, they're at the door at about 5:20, before the evening rush fills the trains.

The trip doesn't go through Shinjuku or Tokyo Station, and you never change trains in central Tokyo. That's the main reason I send guests this way rather than via Shinagawa.

Still deciding where to stay? Bon House sleeps up to four on a quiet residential street, a 7–10 minute walk from Keisei Kanamachi, with a fridge, microwave and kettle in the room. Check availability at Bon House.

Other Ways from Haneda to Kanamachi

Keikyu and JR via Shinagawa (2 changes)

Take any Keikyu train to Shinagawa. Change to the JR Joban Line (Ueno-Tokyo Line) to Kita-Senju, then change again to a local train (Chiyoda Line through service) to JR Kanamachi. It costs ¥770 (IC ¥767), takes 62–72 minutes and ends at the JR North Exit side. Use it late at night, after the last through train (see below). Shinagawa is a big station, and changing there with luggage is slower than the single change at Takasago.

Airport Limousine bus to Kameari

No airport bus stops in Kanamachi. The nearest is the Airport Limousine / Keisei Bus service from Haneda to Kameari, one JR stop from Kanamachi. It costs ¥1,300 and takes about 70 minutes. From Terminal 3 (stop 5) it runs roughly hourly in the daytime, and the last bus leaves at 22:40. From Kameari, take the JR Joban Line (local) one stop to Kanamachi. Between 7 October and 2 December 2026 the bus takes a detour because of roadworks on the Bayshore Route, so allow extra time.

Taxi from Haneda

Tokyo taxis charge a fixed fare of ¥11,300 from Haneda to Katsushika ward (¥13,400 between 22:00 and 05:00), plus expressway tolls. These fares started on 20 April 2026. Ask for the fixed fare (定額運賃) at the taxi rank. It's no faster than the train in traffic, but for three or four people arriving after the last train it's the easy answer.

Last Train from Haneda to Kanamachi

  • Last through train (1 change): 22:54 from Terminal 3. Change at Takasago and arrive at Keisei Kanamachi at 00:09.
  • Later, via Shinagawa: plan for the Keikyu train at 23:19 or earlier. Change at Shinagawa and Kita-Senju to reach JR Kanamachi at about 00:50. Later departures exist on paper, but their connections are only a few minutes.
  • First train: 05:26 from Terminal 3 reaches Keisei Kanamachi at 06:45.

These are weekday times for October 2026. If your flight lands after about 21:30, check the times in a route app before you clear customs. Our guide to Tokyo train apps covers which app shows platform numbers. If you'll miss the last train, take the taxi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a direct train from Haneda to Kanamachi?

Not all the way. The best you can do is one change: the through train to Keisei Takasago, then the Kanamachi Line for 2 stops. Nothing runs from Haneda straight to Keisei Kanamachi or JR Kanamachi.

Is the route OK with large suitcases?

Yes. At Takasago there are lifts and escalators up to the 2nd floor and a ramp to platform 5. Keisei Kanamachi is level, and the passage under JR Kanamachi is at street level. The one hard part is a weekday morning landing: the stretch through central Tokyo can be crowded during the rush hour.

How do I get from Haneda to Shibamata?

Same route: change at Keisei Takasago to the Kanamachi Line and get off after one stop, at Shibamata, instead of riding on to Keisei Kanamachi. Our Shibamata guide covers what to do there.

Should I fly into Haneda or Narita if I'm staying in Kanamachi?

Both work, with one change at the same station, Keisei Takasago. Haneda is cheaper and its trains run more often. Narita has more budget flights. Our Narita to Kanamachi guide covers the other airport, and Haneda vs Narita compares them.
